Tilt and Turn Windows
Inspired by Scandinavian design, tilt and turn windows feature an innovative hinge mechanism that allows them to open in two different ways for maximum flexibility. Tilt the window inwards from the top for secure, controlled ventilation, or open it fully from the side for unrestricted airflow and easy cleaning from inside your home.
Because they open inwards, tilt and turn windows are an excellent choice for upper floors, apartments, balconies, and homes with limited outdoor space. Their practical design makes them ideal for modern living, combining convenience with high levels of security.

Locking
When the handle is down, the window is fully closed and the locking gear engaged . Add more security by adding a key locking option for your handle. When locked, it means the handle button can’t be engaged.
Tilt Mode
To engage Tilt mode, push the handle button and turn the handle 90 degrees to the right. In this mode, the window tilts in vertically from the bottom, but only slightly, for controlled ventilation.
Turn Mode
To engage the turn mode, push the button and turn the handle upwards either 180 degrees from locked, or 90 degrees from Tilt mode. In Turn mode, the window opens inwards from the side for full ventilation.

FAQs About Tilt and Turn Windows
How do tilt and turn windows work?
Tilt and turn window handles work in two ways: either tilted inwards from the bottom by turning the handle 180 degrees, or turned inwards like a door on side hinges by turning the handle 90 degrees.
Are tilt and turn windows secure?
Tilt and turn windows are often considered more secure than other window styles because for the window to move in two directions, they have a robust handle, hinges and a multi-point locking system. As the window is hinged to open inwards, this means the window cannot be pulled open from the outside.
Are tilt and turn windows expensive?
Because of their more complex mechanism and design, tilt and turn windows are typically more expensive than other types of windows, such as casement windows. The full price of your modern tilt and turn window depends on size, colour, glazing and supplier.
Can tilt and turn windows open outwards?
Because of their hinge mechanism, tilt and turn windows are not designed to open outwards. They open inwards, either by tilting them inwards from the bottom or by turning inwards like a door.
Do tilt and turn windows leak?
A professionally made and properly fitted tilt and turn window won’t leak. Their modern design features secure seals that protect against the weather.
Are tilt and turn windows more energy efficient?
Modern double glazed tilt and turn windows offer excellent energy efficiency. They are tightly sealed when closed, helping to retain warmth within your home. Because of their dual opening mechanism, they can be slightly less energy efficient than other window styles like Casement or Flush Casement.
